Project: Safestep LED luminaires for new build pharmaceutical processing facility

Date: Q1 2017

With extensive experience in manufacturing specialist lighting supplies for large pharmaceutical projects and with our impressive reputation for meeting stringent design and delivery deadlines, Astra was the first point of call when ConvaTec decided to expand their pharmaceutical processing facility in Flintshire, Wales.

ConvaTec currently holds the leading market position in the UK for advanced wound care, ostomy care, critical care and infusion devices. They required a cleanroom to be aligned with their current facility with the ability for future expansion. Spanning 951m2, this ISO class 8 cleanroom will house ConvaTec’s stitch bonding processes. By investing a significant amount of resources into this new expansion, the client wanted to ensure that the luminaires used within the cleanroom met all of the sustainable and high quality standards of their current facility.

Astra manufacture a large range of specialist cleanroom luminaires, but the important specifications of this particular project resulted in a recommendation of our LED Safestep luminaire, an IP65/64 non-modular recessed luminaire, designed for use in clean areas with composite panel ceilings, and one that, with the client, we customised to meet every crucial demand.

Having taken the time to understand and meet the client’s needs, Astra’s attention to detail and ability to manufacture the suitable product to a fixed lead time, meant that every luminaire ConvaTec received was reliable, lasting, easily installed and maintained.
